Texas Instruments‘ BQ25180 is a linear battery charger IC focused on small solution size and low quiescent current to extend battery life. The device is housed in an 8-bump chip-scale package, eliminating the need for an HDI PCB process for fabrication, reducing PCB costs. The device can support charge currents up to 1A and system loads up to 2.5A.
Texas Instruments‘ linear battery charger IC, the BQ25180, uses a standard Li-Ion or LiFePO4 charging profile to charge batteries in three stages: precharge, constant current, and constant voltage. Provides maximum charge current through thermal regulation while managing device temperature. The charger is also optimized for inter-battery charging, has a minimum input voltage of 3V, and can withstand an absolute maximum line transient of 25V. The device integrates a single button input and reset circuitry to reduce the overall solution size.
