As wireless standards and frequency bands support more and more applications, STMicroelectronics has introduced the STW81200 RF synthesizer that better meets market demands for high performance and high integration. The new STW81200 RF synthesizer is fabricated in BiCMOS (SiGe) technology and integrates a wideband voltage-controlled oscillator, dual-architecture phase-locked loop core, low-noise regulator, and programmable hardware options for a variety of RF requirements on a single chip.
In base station, radio link, satellite, communication, measurement and other applications, the overall performance of the system is closely related to the phase noise of the RF synthesizer. These applications require high levels of integration and optimized cost without sacrificing RF performance.
In meeting these requirements, as the most flexible RF synthesizer on the market, the STW81200 supports multi-frequency, multi-standard and software-defined RF outputs from 50MHz to 6GHz, while providing -227 dBc/Hz normalized in-frequency phase noise floor, When the communication carrier is 4.0GHz and the frequency offset is 1MHz, the phase noise of the voltage controlled oscillator is -135 dBc/Hz, and the phase noise level is -160 dBc/Hz.
5V, 3.6V or 3.0V unregulated single power supply makes the STW81200 unique in the market, with optimized power consumption and performance extending its application from traditional mains-powered infrastructure to battery-powered portable devices.
The market-proven STW8110x product family continues to evolve, with new RF synthesizers offering increased performance and flexibility, supporting multiple frequencies and multiple RF standards on the same board design. In addition, higher integration and reduced material costs are expected to save customers even more money.
The robust design of the STW81200 meets the requirements of the RFRF infrastructure paradigm. The STW81200 has entered mass production, and STMicroelectronics can now provide samples of the STW81200 evaluation kit in a 6x6 quad flat pack.
