Recently, STMicroelectronics has launched a 64-channel high-voltage switch chip STHV64SW, an unprecedented level of integration, suitable for advanced ultrasound systems, ultrasound probes, piezoelectric drivers, automated test equipment, industrial automation and industrial manufacturing process control systems.

STHV64SW integrates logic control signal shift register, self-biased high voltage MOSFET gate driver and N-channel MOSFET switch with output peak current of ±3A. The response speed of these switches is fast, and the turn-on time is 1.5µs; the low quiescent current saves the power consumption in the off-state. Low on-resistance and low distortion and low crosstalk ensure excellent signal integrity. Internal thermal shutdown and undervoltage lockout protection (UVLO) features ensure safe switch operation.

The chip uses ST‘s proprietary BCD6s-SOI (silicon-on-insulator) and BCD8s SOI manufacturing processes, integrating precision analog circuits (bipolar transistors), low-voltage CMOS logic circuits and robust and reliable DMOS power stages on the same chip.
