STMicroelectronics‘ STLQ020 low dropout regulator can alleviate the difficult trade-off between quiescent current, output power, dynamic response and package size, giving designers greater freedom of design.

Combining small size, high performance and high energy efficiency, the STLQ020 is ideal for battery-operated consumer electronics such as smartphones, tablets, smart watches, audio or media devices, and wearables. In addition, the STLQ020 helps extend battery life in IoT endpoint devices such as smart meters and wireless sensors, medical devices such as wearable monitoring devices, and industrial applications such as industrial automation or sensor networks.

The quiescent current (Iq) of the STLQ020 is only 300nA, the maximum output current is 200mA, and the parameters such as voltage regulation, power supply rejection ratio (PSRR), transient response are excellent, and the package adopts a compact 0.8mm x 0.8mm flip-chip4.

The STLQ020‘s unparalleled combination of features stems from its dedicated low-power design and adaptive bias circuitry, which guarantees a stable output with fast response and high PSRR. In addition, at maximum load, the voltage drops to 160mV (typ), which can extend the device runtime during battery discharge. In addition, the STLQ020 provides a logic-controlled shutdown mode with a power consumption of only 5nA, enabling extended coin cell battery replacement intervals in low-duty-cycle applications (eg, remote sensors).

The input voltage range of STLQ020 is 2.0V-5.5V, and the power supply can directly use the appropriate battery voltage (VBAT) or logic voltage rail. The output voltage can be set between 0.8V and 4.5V, and there are two types of output voltage: fixed and adjustable. For fixed output voltage products, the voltage changes by 50mV for each adjustment.

The STLQ020 is available in three packages: 2mm x 2mm DFN6, 0.8mm x 0.8mm flip-chip 4, and 2.1mm x 2.0mm SOT323-5L.
