Power management chips are a necessary requirement for electronic circuits. Because as long as it is an electronic system, it needs power supply. Common power supplies include power adapters, batteries, etc. According to the type of input and output current, we can divide the power manager into 4 types: AC-DC (rectifier), AC-AC (frequency conversion, etc.), DC-DC (chopping), DC-AC (inverter).

1. Switching rectifier (AC-DC): It is mainly responsible for converting alternating current into direct current. Commonly used power adapters for notebook computers.​​

2. AC-AC inverter (AC-AC): It is responsible for converting alternating current of a certain frequency into another alternating current of constant frequency or variable frequency.

3. DC-DC converter (DC-DC): converts direct current into another direct current with different frequency, phase, current and voltage characteristics.

4. Inverter (DC-AC): A switching converter that converts direct current into alternating current, some call it a converter, and is the main component of alternating current output switching power supply and uninterruptible power supply (UPS).

The power management chip is an integrated power management circuit. Its main functions are voltage regulation, buck-boost, constant current, and AC-DC conversion. It is divided into linear regulator (LDO), charge pump (Charger-pump) chip, DC-DC Converters (DC-DC), AC-DC converters (AC-DC), LED driver chips, etc., are widely used in chargers and LED drivers for consumer electronics such as mobile phones and notebook computers.
