In the application process of the product, the power isolation chip is very important for the power isolation design. If the environmental requirements for power isolation are not considered, the system will be unstable, and the high voltage will damage the subsequent load, and even endanger the Life is safe.
Isolated power supply: It means that the input and output are electrically connected through the power isolation chip. The conversion process of the transformer is: electricity-magnetic-electricity, which is not connected to the ground, so there is no danger of electric shock. In the power topology, there are mainly various belts. Isolation transformer flyback, forward, half bridge, LLC, etc.
Non-isolated power supply: the input power is directly applied to the load after buck-boosting. The 220V input and operating voltage are not isolated, and human body contact is prone to electric shock. In the power topology, non-isolated power supplies mainly include: Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost et al.
The main difference between isolation and non-isolation is that the input circuit and output circuit of the isolated voltage regulator do not share the ground, while the non-isolated one shares the same ground. Generally speaking, the non-isolated one has primary and secondary inductive windings. , while the isolated type has only a single inductor, and the isolated type is used when high power and ground wire interference protection requirements are relatively high, and the non-isolated type is used in relatively simple and compact situations.
So what are the advantages and disadvantages of power isolation chips and non-isolated power chips?
1. Isolation
Advantages: The primary and secondary side interference is small, the input and output can have a large voltage difference, and the ACDC or DCAC must be isolated.
Disadvantages: complex structure, many devices and high cost.
2. Non-isolation
Advantages: Simple structure, few devices and low cost.
Disadvantages: The primary and secondary side interference is large, and the input and output cannot have too much pressure difference.
When choosing isolated and non-isolated power modules, you must clearly understand the requirements and reliability of power ICs. For some commonly used embedded power supply options, if it is an occasion that requires safety, if you need to connect AC- DC, or medical power supply, in order to ensure personal safety, the power supply must be isolated by the power isolation chip, the isolation chip optocoupler isolates the signal, and the isolated dcdc isolation chip converter can provide power isolation.
