Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) announces the LTC6363-0.5, LTC6363-1 and LTC6363-2 precision, fixed gain, fully differential amplifiers, the proven ultra-precision fixed gain family of LTC6363 amplifiers. The new products provide fixed gains of 0.5, 1, and 2V/V, and can flexibly adjust the input to the full-scale ADC.
The integrated precision resistors of the LTC6363-0.5, LTC6363-1 and LTC6363-2 are designed with overall system performance in mind. A balance of noise and linearity is achieved. Adopt laser factory calibration, high precision. This precision is not only difficult to achieve with discrete device solutions, but it is also expensive to achieve. The initial gain accuracy is 45 ppm (max) and the maximum variation over temperature is only 0.5 ppm/oC. Common Mode Rejection Ratio (CMRR), typically limited to discrete resistor matching, achieves an excellent 94dB (minimum), equivalent to 0.002% of resistor matching.
“One of the challenges when driving high performance SAR ADCs is to find a suitable driver with similar power consumption while maintaining the noise and linearity performance of the ADC. The LTC6363 family excels at this. For example, the LTC2378-2020-bit SAR ADC Power consumption is 21 mW at 1 msps. "The noise and linearity of the LTC6363 family has a negligible impact on ADC performance while power consumption is only 19 mW, which is comparable to the ADC‘s Power consumption levels are comparable. Now, with the LTC6363-0.5, LTC6363-1 and LTC6363-2, you get the same ADC drive performance and new precision provided by precision integrated resistors, all in the same compact MSOP8 package.
The LTC6363 family of devices operates from 2.8V (+1.4V) to 11V (+5.5V) and can draw a typical supply current of 1.75MA. These device specifications have an operating temperature range of -40 C to 125 C. The LTC6363 fixed gain family is housed in a 3 mm x 5 mm plastic MSOP8 package, while the LTC6363 (resistorless) is also available in a small 2 mm x 3 mm DFN package.
